everything hints quiet pink

the heat has finally decided on its expiration

and continues to edge towards a dim warmth

the sun hesitantly yields to the imminent night

its rays hastily reaching for anything’s touch

light perforates through the space

between leaves, perforating through time

landing its touch on your skin, caressing your

healing bruises

its hasty yet temperate heat feels like home

a certain déjà vu

a certain pied-à-terre

you call out on its folly and your own

the humid air twiddles with your skin

and the rays abruptly sting and burn

casting holes onto your surface

and the dying glow whispers weakly,

“maybe we’ll try again tomorrow.”
